Original Hippocratic Oath, translated into English:

“ I swear by Apollo, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath.

To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.

I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or with men, be they free or slaves.
All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.

If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all men and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my lot.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. ~Mark Twain

As a toddler, Royce learned Jiu-Jitsu from his father and his older brothers Rorion, Relson, and Rickson Gracie. He began competing at the age of 8 and by the time he was 16 had attained the level of blue belt. A year later he was invited by his brother Rorion to help teach Jiu-Jitsu from his garage in America. Despite not knowing English, Royce accepted the offer and moved to California. He competed in a number of Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in Brazil and the United States and compiled an amateur record of 51-3. Royce received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 18. Royce is now a 5th degree black belt.

"Once a king or queen in Narnia, always a king or queen. Bear it well, Sons of Adam! Bear it well, Daughters of Eve!"

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

“The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.”

“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.”

Hey Kids...

Sorry it has taken so long since I've posted. But I've been busy with t-shirt art, proposals, podcasing, drawsumthincool, and life in general I haven't had a chance to put anything up. But I swear here is more on the way, so share and enjoy.

I know I haven't posted in two days. It's not because I haven't been busy. I'm actually hard at work, and I'm sitting on five new illustrations I want to post. But the problem is that most are gifts and I don't want to accidentally give away the surprise.

So...I have a bunch of stuff that I haven't posted before I started this blog or the Doubledorkmeter Podcast site. I please enjoy some classic DrawsumthinCool and check back because I'll have new stuff up in the next day or two.

Thanks.

In Italy, it is said by some that if a ladybird flies into one's bedroom, it is considered good luck. In central Europe, a ladybird crawling across a girl's hand is thought to mean she will get married within the year. In some cultures they are referred to as lucky bugs (Turkish: uğur böceği)

051_Spirit-of-Christmas

Okay. I know I'm a little late on this one. But you don't want to post these things and give away the surprise.

Trust me.

It happens

About this Drawing:

Christmas means something special to everyone. To some it is a time of celebration for a annual religious landmark. To some it is about the plunder of booty brought by Father Christmas.

It is also a time for family, and togetherness. Where we make our own pilgrimage to over come distance so that for once a year we are together as family.

Happy Holidays.

About this Drawing:

Meet Annie and Aiden.

There is little in the world that compare to the love between Parent and Child. The bond that is shared between them is rooted from the genes. But when you see those little eyes looking back, you fall in love. From the moment when the little hand grabs onto your finger, you know that this little person is the most important thing in the world.
